Not illustrated. 1917 Excerpt: ...to the great danger of the health of the Inhabitants in that Quarter; And further that the Lots of John Delafield at the Exchange Slip remain in a sunken unwholesome State. Whereupon Ordinances were passed by the Board requiring the Proprietors and Occupants of the said first above mentioned Lots to raise them to such Heighth as that the Water do not remain thereon, stagnant And also requiring John Delafield to cause his said Lots to be properly filled up the whole to be executed & performed by the first day of October next under the Penalty of 100 Dollars for each Lot 216 Isaac Gouverneur having at his own Expence made a Common Sewer in Front Street & Gouverneurs Alley he is authorized to demand Compensation for his Expence from any Person who shall insert a private Drain in the said Common Sewer Ordered the like with respect to a Common Sewer he has Permission to make from his new House in Hanover Square into the Old Slip. Christopher Hughes has permission to take up part of Roosevelt Street to insert a private Drain in the Common Sewer on his paying a reasonable Proportion towards the Expence of making the said Common Sewer & putting the Street in good Order Archibald Dunlap has permission to make an Area to his House in Henry Street. On reading a Petition for the purpose An Ordinance was passed "for digging out & paving Division Street from the present Pavement thereof at East George Street to Rutgers Street." On reading a Petition for the Purpose Ordered that the Ordinance for filling in Magazine Street be suspended for this Season on Condition that the Neighborhood fill up the Street so as to make it dry & passable.
